Happy Friday Friends! I’m back with another round up of my five favourite things! Let’s get into it.

No. 1

Old Navy is 40% off right now for purchases over $100! I’ll be checking out the sale this weekend, stocking up on my favourite lux tee’s and trendy pieces like this grey oversized blazer. I’ve heard really good things about their blazers this season and I’m excited to add this baby to my wardrobe.

No. 2

Did you catch Monday’s recipe post? I’m still obsessing over this delicious eggplant and sausage pasta recipe, I made it again on Tuesday night and fell in love with it all over again. If you love one pot pasta recipes it’s a must try!

No. 3

Are you a royal fan? I’m loving the royal tour and of course sweet baby Archie! But the best part of any Royal Tour is the fashion and Meghan’s has been on point. I’m loving watching her re wear some of the pieces from the Australian tour. But I really love how she’s mixing high and low fashion. And I think we can all agree she really rocked this Everlane jumpsuit!

No. 4

I discovered the Bon Appétit Foodcast about a year ago and I love listening to the chefs talk about food and recipes, I always learn so much from them. I particularly enjoyed the recent episode about Galettes, so much that I have my own galette recipe coming to the blog next week!

No. 5

So I think I finally found a rug for our living room!! Of course I’m not sure it will match the teal pillows I just bought… oops! But those can go on the couch downstairs right? Who knows maybe they will look ok, we will have to wait and see. But Wayfair has rugs on sale this week, so I think it’s time to pull the trigger on this one.

Fall Lifestyle Favourites

2019 Fall Favourites

Anyone else loving this transition to fall? Thanksgiving is just around the corner and this is by far my favourite time of year. It’s been a bit rainier this year then normal, but the crisp mild weather has been so great.

Since moving into our house I’ve been in need of some new fall decor and even my wardrobe has been lacking in cozy sweaters and fall tones. SO today I’m sharing a few pieces I’m loving for fall.

  1. Capri Blue Spiced Cider Candle – I love candles but am a bit sensitive to scents, so I’m picky about my candles. I love Anthropologies capri blue candle range and this spiced cider one has made it into my cart. Cant wait to burn it all fall long.
  2. Steve Madden Dover Chelsea Boots – I love a bootie and am in desperate need of a new paid. Living on the west coast its always raining so boots are a daily staple. I love a low booty like this for casual days, they look so cute with jeans, a plaid shirt and puffer vest.
  3. Fall Tone Artwork – I love this art print from Minted (I have an obsession with Minted). I’ve been eyeing it for our bedroom for a while. I think it would be such a great jumping off point for a cozy earthy master bedroom.
  4. Fall Dresses – My style always goes a bit more boho in fall, I love soft textures in rich colours this time of year and I think this Anthropologie dress would be so perfect for Thanksgiving dinner.
  5. Cozy Sweater – I love this sweater, especially the sleeves! It’s a bit of an investment but I think you need to invest when buying knits since you really can keep them forever. Plus they can’t be scratchy!
  6. Fall Wreath – Now that we finally have a front door I want to get a fall wreath. I didn’t want anything too bold or bright in colour, so this rice flower wreath from Magnolia is perfect!

There you have it! My fall favourites, happy shopping!

Life Update: We Bought a House!!

July 10, 2019 by admin Leave a Comment

Ok guys as you can tell from the title I have some pretty exciting news to share… we bought a house!! Yep that’s right Calvin and I are now officially home owners! If you’re from Canada you know how crazy the real estate market is right now so I’m really proud of our hard work that got us here.

Now funny enough the plan was not to buy a house this year… nope we were planning a trip to Hawaii in the fall and had put buying a house on the back burner. Like a said the Canadian real estate market has been crazy the last few years, especially in BC which is of course where we live. As much as we love our province and couldn’t imagine moving back east it has it’s draw backs. Like the cost of living… it’s just really expensive!

Anyway I hadn’t been thinking too much about houses. We were putting money away for a down payment and had decided to take a nice vacation and buy a place in a few years when the market hopefully had cooled down a bit. Since we wanted a single family home we knew we could be waiting awhile and we were mostly ok with that. Then one Saturday night we were at home chatting about real estate and I opened my computer to see what was for sale. It had been quite a while since I’d looked since it’s really discouraging to look at places you know you can’t afford. Much to my surprise an adorable house in a good neighbourhood, and at a good price popped up. I was shocked and surprised. I immediately showed the place to Calvin and he was also surprised to see a nice house like that for a reasonable price. So we decided to go to the open house on Sunday.

As soon as we drove into the neighbourhood that Sunday I knew I wanted to live there. It just felt like home. I don’t really know how to describe it I knew in my gut that neighbourhood was the one for us. When we got to the house we really liked it, but it was small. But we loved it and really wanted to put in an offer.

Unfortunately by the time we got our act together the owners had already accepted another offer. We were bummed! It was our first taste of how competitive and quick moving real estate is. But loosing out on that house made us realize that we really did want to buy a house now.

So we started the hunt looking all over for the perfect place. We saw a lot of the wrong houses for us. Everything was so cramped, small and old. We did eventually find a few places we really liked but the commute to downtown would have been horrible. I won’t lie at times it was pretty discouraging.

Finally we returned to that first neighbourhood, the one we loved, and there was the perfect house. A brand new home with lots of space, 3 bedrooms and basement. Lots of room for us to grow into. We knew not too let this gem slip away! So we made an offer in April and it was accepted!!!

We bought our home at the dry way stage so it has been so fun to watch the whole building process and see the home we envisioned come together. It really is better than we ever could have imagined! And I’m so excited to get cooking in my new kitchen!!! This is a home we very likely will be staying in for a long time (although never say never!) so we will defiantly be doing a few things to it to make it feel more personal and homey. I’ll of course be sharing that process!!

I’m so grateful we were able to make this big step into home ownership and can’t wait to create many memories here!

Father’s Day Gift Guide – 2019

2019 Father's Day Gift Guide!

Father’s Day is coming up quick… it’s next Sunday if you haven’t checked your calendar! Today I’m sharing my picks for the best Father’s Day gifts for any type of Dad. Or maybe just my Dad? I know he would enjoy all the gifts on this list.

2019 – Father’s Day Gifts

Yeti Cooler – I am a huge fan of Yeti products. I’m sure you can tell the’ve made it into my gift guides before. Now this cooler is expensive theres no way to sugar coat it, but if you have a dad that goes camping, fishing or is super into the outdoors this is the perfect cooler for him. It’s a great size for day trips and it’s such high quality! It’s on my wish list and I’m defiantly not a Dad!

Sonos Speaker – My Dad is a huge music fan, he’s always going to concerts and cranking up his radio. I love portable speakers and have a few around my house, but my parts dont have any. I think this Sonos one would be perfect for my Dad to play music all over the house. Oh and it has an Alexa built in!

Spiceology Gift Set – Ok my Dad loves spices, you should see my parents spice cabinet it’s actually ridiculous! I think my Mom would kill me it I bought this set for my Dad, but I know he would love it. Fun spice mixes perfectly made for the BBQ isn’t that every Dad’s thing?!

Drill Set – Dad’s and all men love power tools, heck lots of woman too! And upgrading Dad’s drill is a great idea. My Dad is constantly using power tools, building something, fixing something and his drill could probably use an upgrade.

Game of Thrones Monopoly – Ok I fall into the small category of people who have never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. I know! I’m that awkward person at work standing around the cubicle listening to everyone discuss the series finales, but having no idea what they are talking about. My Dad on the other hand loves Game of Thrones and would love this game. Perfect for our family game nights!

Webber’s Ultimate Grilling – This is a cookbook I think most men could get behind. Who better to teach you how to grill then Webber? My Dad loves to grill and use all his spices (see above). This book would take his grilling skills to the next level!

Nest Video Doorbell – Ok this gift is for the tech Dad, do you have one of those? I don’t… but I think everyone would enjoy this gadget. This doorbell lets you see who is at your door and you can talk to them through your phone. I think this is a great security feature! No more stolen packages! One thing I’ve learned about Dad’s is that they love peace of mind, and this will give them just that.

Whiskey Wedge – This is such a fun gift. My Dad enjoys a good cocktail and rye whiskey has been his go to drink for a very long time. I think this whiskey ice wedge would be a fun addition to his bar cart.

There you have it my gift guide for Father’s Day 2019. I hope this helps you pick something extra special out for Dad! Check back this Friday for a great Father’s Day recipe that’s sure to make his mouth water!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

April 30, 2019 by Danielle Leave a Comment

Mother’s day is in less then 2 weeks people! Are you ready? Have you bought a gift for your momma? I haven’t… sorry mom I promise I’m working on it. Here’s the run down of what I think any mom would love to receive this year.

Mother's Day

Jewelry Dish – This adorable jewelry dish would be perfect for any mom especially if paired with one of the jewelry pieces I’ve picked out in this post. I love keeping jewelry dishes on my nightstand and bathroom. Perfect for wedding rings (although I never take mine off), necklaces and earrings you forget to take off before bed.

Let Me Feed You – Doesn’t this title just scream mom (or grandma!). Kidding aside this cookbook is amazing and a must buy for anyone who likes to cook, your momma included.

Dyson Blow Dryer – If you’re planning on really spoiling your mom this year get her the Dyson blow dryer. Now I don’t own on but I’ve used one and I’m here to tell you it’s amazing! It’s on my wish list and it would be a serious treat for mom.

Ugg Slippers – I love these slippers they are so cozy and perfect for the house. They are a bit of an investment though. Well worth it but we all know mom’s don’t spend money on themselves so we have to treat them and these slippers are a well deserved treat.

Rose 31 Perfume – Have you smelt this perfume. I feel like it’s a universally enjoyed scent. I love it and I know you momma will love it too. I love being spoiled with a new perfume and again mom’s just wont buy these things for themselves!

Kendra Scott Necklace – These necklaces are popular for a reason, they never go out pf style. They are so cute and such high quality. And sooo many gem colours to choose from. And perfect on that jewelry dish!

Tea Press – This little tea press is the sweetest thing! I’m obsessed, and rose gold! Perfect for the tea loving momma.

Mama Ring – This ring is so sweet and cute. I think it would be the perfect gift from kiddos to their mama! So cute and sweet and totally on trend.

Ok friends I hope this helps you finish your shopping for your Mamma!

Cinco De Mayo Entertaining Ideas

April 24, 2019 by Danielle Leave a Comment

Hey friends! I’m back with another entertaining post. Today we’re talking all thing Cinco De Mayo!

Untitled-1

I love celebrating EVERYTHING! Plus a holiday that includes eating guacamole and drinking margs! That’s right up my ally! We always celebrate Cinco De Mayo by having a few couples over for tacos or fajitas and margaritas. I usually get some fun festive decorations and we really enjoy a fun night of drinking and eating with friends. This year I’ll actually be heading home from my best friends bachelorette party so I won’t be doing my usual celebrating. I’m pretty bummed. So I’ve decided that next year I’ll have to go all out a throw a serious party. Until then here’s my Cinco De Mayo entertaining round up!

Festive banners – Guys if you’re throwing a fiesta you must have lots of bright fun colours. I like neutrals and white as much as the next gal but this is not the time or the place for neutrals!

Gold Balloons – Does anyone throw parties without metallic balloons anymore? I’m seriously asking? I defiantly don’t. I love the cute sayings you can make out of the mini ones and this pre made fiesta script is perfect for over your food display. Also since you hang it no need for helium… win!

Taco Rack – Perfect if you want to put assembled tacos or fajitas on your food buffet. They keep things so neat and tidy. Plus your tacos look so much more appetizing!

Margarita Glasses – Ok as much as I love a lime margarita on the rocks in a short glass there is something so fun about a festive margarita glass. I love the look of these one’s with the blue and white designs. Plus super thick glass so you dont have to worry about chips!

Pinata – Ok guys I’m turning 26 this year and I still haven’t had a pinata at a birthday yet. Is 26 too old for that? Regardless of your age I think a pinata is totally Cinco De Mayo party appropriate. And totally fun!

Colourful Dinnerware – I love festive plates and these ones are perfect! Super fun bright colours and they are great not only for Cinco De Mayo but for all your Summer entertaining. These one’s are made to look like Mexican tiles, they couldn’t get better!

Ok guys now all you need to do make a pitcher of mags and a big tray of tacos!
